Lord, we give you thanks for MLA Claire Trevena . We pray that you will continue to lead her and guide her as she continues to faithfully serve her constituents of North Island and the people of British Columbia. May your hand be upon her and give her your divine insights, wisdom and vision as she carries out her duties. May your peace which passes all understanding also be with her and her family as she fulfills all of her duties and responsibilities.
Claire Trevena was first elected in May 2005 and was re-elected on May 12, 2009. Claire is a former journalist, community activist and human rights worker. In the early 1990s, Claire came to Canada as the BBC's Canadian correspondent.
Awarded the Canadian Civilian Peacekeeping Medal, she's worked on democratic development projects overseas and in Canada.
Claire was an active trade unionist in her professional life. Since moving to BC she has been involved in a number of community initiatives, including a weekly community kitchen on Quadra Island as well as various environmental initiatives.
She was elected to the board of the Quadra Community Association and held a seat on the Regional District of Comox Strathcona Regional Area J Advisory Planning Committee.
Prior to the 2005 election, Claire ran a small communications business on Quadra Island with her husband, Mike McIvor.
