John Yap was appointed Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology and Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism on September 5, 2012.
John was first elected in the riding of Richmond-Steveston in 2005 and was re-elected on May 12, 2009.
He previously served as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board, the Legislative Review Cabinet Committee, as well as the Select Standing Committees on Public Accounts, Crown Corporations and Finance and Government Services. He has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture.
John attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and obtained his Masters of Business Administration.
