MLA: John Yap - Richmond-Steveston


We pray Lord that you will watch over MLA John Yap and help him in the performance of his busy daily schedule. We ask that you will give him strength and encouragement as he works diligently for the citizens of British Columbia and his riding constituents of Richmond-Steveston. We honour him for his commitment to take on all the roles that he has for the Legislative Assembly. Continue to give him the wisdom he needs to make all the decisions required to carry out all of his duties. Watch over him and protect both him and his family. We thank you Lord.



John Yap was first elected in the riding of Richmond-Steveston in the 2005 provincial election. He was re-elected on May 12, 2009.

MLA Yap currently serves as the Parliamentary Secretary for Clean Technology to the Minister of Energy and Mines.

Yap previously served as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board, the Legislative Review Cabinet Committee, as well as the Select Standing Committees of Public Accounts Crown Corporations and Finance and Government Services. He has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture and was previously a member of the Finance and Government Services Committee.
