June 8

MLA's will be sworn in on June 8.  The cabinet will be announced shortly after.  We will start daily MLA prayer posts as soon as possible after that date.  Our goal is to be ready as soon as members take the oath.

Have a great week!

Transition Time

While it's been over a week since the election was held, we are in a bit of a holding pattern until recounts are done and the results are made official.  Once the results are official, members will be sworn into office, the cabinent will be named  and we will be able to create new profiles begin posting daily MLA Prayer bulletins as we did prior to the election.

In the meantime, please pray for Premier Campbell and those who are working with him as he prepares to name a the cabinet and assign responsibilities to MLA's.  We ask for the same wisdom to be extended to Carole James and her shadow cabinet as well.

Part of What We Accomplished....

I'm working on an interview for a national magazine and began to think about the numbers involved with PrayBC.  On average we had about 2000 people per day praying with us.  At 3 minutes per day, that translates into about 6000 minutes or about 100 hours of prayer each day of the campaign.  Over 29 days, that takes us to almost 2900 hours or about 121 solid days of prayer.

I'm astounded at the results.  I had no idea we were hitting these kind of targets.  I'm humbled to have been a part of this and thrilled at the same time.  I'm tremendously proud of the people who helped write a fresh prayer for each day and of the 2000 people who stood with us on behalf of BC.

I believe that there are answers to those prayers that have yet to be discovered.  I can hardly wait to share them with you!

Thanks from PrayBC!!

I just want to say thanks to the almost 2000 of you who have prayed along with us for the past 29 days. Thanks for believing in the vision and purpose of PrayBC. You have made history in BC and we have only just begun.

It has been so exciting to know that we were praying the same thing for the same reason all across BC over the past 29 days. God has heard us and has answered us by sending capable and wise men and women to serve our province. He has chosen them and will empower them to serve with distinction. Over the coming weeks and months, we will discover the many ways in which He has chosen to answer us. BC will be blessed because we stood in the gap together! Let's pray together one more time...

Lord, we stop to acknowledge Your goodness to us. You have heard and responded as we have prayed. You are faithful. We are blessed. We pray today for those who have been elected. We ask that you would empower them and equip them to serve with distinction. Fill them with wisdom. Keep them from evil and bless them in every way. As some embark on new careers, help them with the many adjustments and challenges that come along with this new role. Renew those who are returning. Refresh their vision, passion and conviction. Strengthen them for the work before them.

We pray especially for Premier Campbell today and ask that you would put you hand upon him as he chooses a cabinet and takes on the responsibility of leadership again. Help him to walk rightly, to do justly and to love mercy so that British Columbia might be blessed in every way.

We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen!

PrayBC Election Day Prayer

PrayBC Election Day Prayer

Father, in response to Your call and invitation we have asked you to use this election to accomplish Your purposes for our province. We have prayed in faith towards this day believing that you will hear from heaven and respond to the prayers of Your people. We remind ourselves that you grant men and women the right to rule and that you raise them up and move them aside according to Your perfect will.

Our prayer today is simply that your kingdom would come and that your will would be done in British Columbia as it is in heaven. We ask that you would bring voters to the polls, help campaign workers as they do their part and grant each candidate strength on this final day of the campaign.

Bless our province today with an outcome that fulfills Your purposes for British Columbia so that we and our nation will live with your blessing and grace. Grant us leaders whose hearts are soft and open to You so that we might find favour with You.

We ask this in Jesus name,

And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him- the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might Isaiah 11:2

Heavenly Father, today we pray for the Voters. We thank you God for this privilege that we have to be able to vote. We pray that you would dispel any apathy and spur the citizens of this province to go out and cast their vote.

As each person, young and old goes out to vote, we ask that you go before them and let your wisdom and understanding rest upon them as they make their mark. Use this election to accomplish YOUR purposes for British Columbia.

Let there be no interference with the equipment used in voting or the any of the ballots. Let each vote cast be counted. Bless those who will sacrifice their time to help man all the voting stations.

Begin now to inspire the voters in who they should choose, leaders who you have chosen. May each and every voter know the importance of their decision and may each one of them seek you first before they make their choice.

We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

PrayBC Daily Election Prayer Focus - Day 26 - Our Seniors

Honour your father and your mother that you may live long in the land your Lord God is giving you. Exodus 20:12

Lord, Your Word says that we are to honour our elders and that they should be sought for their wise council and not be left to waste away; and today we pray to you for our seniors who have a right to be heard, and a right to comfort, dignity and peace of mind. We pray for their health and nutrition requirements, for clean and safe places to live and for companionship; Lord we humbly ask that these needs be met. We pray for leaders to be voted into the Legislative Assembly of BC who have compassionate hearts for seniors, and who have respect for the wisdom learned by our seniors on the paths that they have walked. We pray that we, your people, live by your Word that we may live long in Your land.

Lord, You know the hearts and experiences of those who have put their names forward to serve this province and we pray that the right people, Your people, are elected for such a time as this.

We ask this Lord Jesus in your precious name. Amen.

Rev 22:2 And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Father in Heaven;

We ask for Your wisdom and favour in the area of Health Care. Lord, You know the many challenges that exist within our healthcare system and today we ask for your help and intervention.  This is complex area with many variables, and yet none of it is too difficult for you.  We ask that you would give us leaders in this election who are prepared and able to deal with the many issues facing our health care system.  Grant them courage to make hard decisions, faith to believe for a better tomorrow and the wisdom to implement strategies.

Bless the relationship between Health Care Workers and Professionals and the Government.  Cause it to be marked with a pro-active and cooperative spirit that puts patients first.

Lord, we ask that you would provide and release the finances necessary to fund the hospitals, staff and programs necessary to care for the needs of our province.  Grant us leaders who will steward those resources effectively.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 24

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign Day 24 - Public Safety

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" Psalm 91:1-2

Heavenly Father,
We ask today for your Sovereign protection over our province in the season ahead. We ask you to stand in the face of violence, gangs and injustice. We need you at this time.

We know that elected officials will have a difficult time ahead keeping our streets, public areas and homes safe. We ask that you would grant divine wisdom to them so that they will have amazing foresight and insight into the unique challenges they will face. Give us leaders God who will have the courage, strength & boldness to take on these challenges. Leaders that will have favor with all parties and all organizations that will have a good voice to these issues.

Raise up leaders at this time who will be filled with compassion, goodness & will do justice.

We ask Father that you would keep our citizen's safe and that our elected officials will not be overwhelmed by the task ahead of them.

Thank you Father for your intervention on our province at this time.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 22

PrayBC Day 22 - The Economy

"The LORD will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops.12 The LORD will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them.   Deuteronomy 28:11-12

Heavenly Father we come to you today to pray for our Economy. We find ourselves in uncertain times and ask that you would spare us undue hardship. We ask that you would bless our province so that it prospers abundantly because we have purposed ourselves to put our trust in you and not the world.

As we are in the mist of this election we ask that you would give us leaders with divine strategies, which would help us to be a province that never borrows but always lends.

May you even now begin to download these divine ideas into our future leaders, which would help boost our future economy.

Keep us from being anxious and fearful but always inspire us to uphold and pray for those who you call to oversee these important tasks. May we be slow to cast blame but quick to offer hope and encouragement.

We ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 21

PrayBC Election Campaign Prayer Focus - Education

Prov 9:9 Give instructions to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
Dear Heavenly Father;
We thank You Lord that every child in British Columbia is given the right and privilege to an Education. You know that Education brings many unique political challenges and has long been a political football in our province. We pray for the MLA who will be entrusted to oversee this crucial area within our province. Empower that person to provide excellent leadership in this crucial field. Help them to be a blessing to both teachers and students in our province. We acknowledge that Education and wisdom is so very, very dear to Your heart, that You are in fact, Wisdom. Our hearts are so very grateful for all those that Teach and work in the Adminstration side of Education. It is our desire to be in agreement with Your heart for those men and women that You have chosen to be elected in the field of Education.
In Your loving name, Amen.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 20

PrayBC Election Campaign Prayer Focus Day 15 - The Leader's Debate

"Let your conversation be gracious and effective, so that you will have the right answer for everyone." Col 4:6 NLT

The Apostle Paul has stated a key issue for those in leadership: true influence is acheived not by domination but by careful consideration of the issues, and respect for others.

Dear Father, as the Leaders gather to debate this evening, we ask that you would watch over each and every detail associated with the discussion. Lord, this is the best opportunity for many people to hear and see the leaders in action. We ask that more than anything, that truth will triumph over accusation and that wisdom would prevail over an argument. We pray that those who can and do speak effortlessly will restrain themselves, so as not to overpower others by their force of words. We pray they will make considered effort to use their gift wisely. May they choose to foster an atmosphere of fairness, and respect. For those who find it more difficult to state their case and opinions, may they gain courage and confidence. May they not let themselves be comprimised, but know that their knowledge and observations are valuable. May this deference to one another bring forth those quality, principled answers that will serve our province in the best way. Father we thank you for the principles of free speech upon which our nation and province are founded.

We place this prayer before you in the Holy name of Jesus Christ.  Amen

Watch the debate at 5 PM and join us at Church of Our Lord for a PrayBC Election Prayer Rally from 7 PM-8:15 PM.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 19

PrayBC Election Campaign Daily Prayer Focus Day 19 - Leaders with Prepared Hearts

'Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding' - Jeremiah 3:15

Father, we thank you that you are a God who changes hearts. We thank you that it is you who puts governments in place and that their authority comes from you. Therefore, as we partner with you in prayer, we thank you for the men and women you have prepared to lead this province after this election. Father, give them godly wisdom, a wisdom that is gentle and willing to yield to others; a wisdom that is full of mercy and good deeds, shows no partiality and is always sincere; a wisdom that leads to knowledge and understanding and insight. Father, raise up leaders who have your heart and who are open to your ways, your principles, your righteousness and justice. Raise up leaders with courageous hearts, willing to take a stand in the face of ungodly opposition, and who want to do the right thing and for the common good.

Father, continue to change the hearts of these men and women, and we pray your protection upon these future leaders from any plans of the enemy to thwart your plans - may your kingdom come and your will be done in this coming election - in Jesus name,  Amen.

PrayBC Election Prayer Campaign - Day 18

PrayBC Election Campaign Prayer Focus - Laying Hold of the Cause
I attended a pastor's prayer meeting this morning and our focus was on the Provincial Election.  As we prayed, I found myself identifying with David as he went to visit his brothers just prior to the confrontation with Goliath.  You'll remember that he stood before his brothers and the army and asked the simple question:  'Is there not a cause?'

PrayBC is built around the powerful and yet simple cause of inviting God to use this election to accomplish His purposes for our province.  As much as 'faith without works is dead', so we must also remember that 'It's not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit declares the Lord.'  Let's remember that because we are praying, God is able to do something sovereign and powerful on Election Day.  Let's keep doing this! We are shaping the future on our knees!

Heavenly Father, we lay hold of the cause of praying for British Columbia again this morning.  We are blessed to live in this magnificent place.  Lord Jesus, as we invite you in to this electoral process, we know that nothing is too difficult for You.  We know that You have established a destiny and future for this province that is magnificent and will bring great blessing to every part of our province.  And so we pray 'let your kingdom come and let your will be done in British Columbia as it is in heaven.'  Work powerfully and sovereignly in the lives of each candidate that you have selected.  Strengthen their lives, empower their campaign workers and help them in spite of how they may feel or what they may see before them.  Protect their campaigns, their families and those who are closest to them.

We ask this in Jesus Name, Amen.
