MLA: Mable Elmore

Photo of MLAWe pray for Mable Elmore today and ask that you would help her as she takes on her new responsibilities as MLA for Vancouver Kensington. Lord, we are so thankful that you have called the first Filipino Canadian to serve as an MLA. Thank you for granting us leaders with diversity and a broad perspective. Help her Lord as she sets up her community office and give her wisdom, as she is already dealing with a wide variety of concerns from her constituents on issues such as affordable housing, class sizes in schools, and workplace conditions.

We ask this in Jesus Name, Amen.

Mable Elmore was elected MLA for Vancouver-Kensington on May 12, 2009.
Mable serves as deputy opposition critic for Children, Family Development and Child Care.

Mable has been a transit operator for 10 years, driving a bus in Metro Vancouver while taking a role in her union, the Canadian Auto Workers Local 111, where she coordinated the "More Buses Now" campaign to improve public bus transit.
Mable is a second generation Filipino-Canadian who has also been active in the peace movement and on immigrant, social justice, women's and gay, lesbian and transgendered issues.
