MLA: Hon. John Yap - Richmond-Steveston - Minister of State for Multiculturalism

Father, we thank You that You have placed MLA: Hon. John Yap as our Minister of State for Multiculturalism and the chair of the Immigration Task Force. We ask that You give him revelation, knowledge and understanding as the Immigration Task Force exams the current system of economic immigration to Canada specifically British Columbia.  We pray that You would give him supernatural wisdom in this area and lead him to those countries, companies and individuals that will have the greatest economic impact on our cities, towns and province. As he and the Task Force review and write policies we ask that they would have clarity on the future impact that the decisions made today will have on the future of our province both economically and socially. We Bless him Father in the precious name of Your son Jesus.

John Yap was appointed Minister of State for Multiculturalism on March 24, 2012.

MLA Yap was first elected in the riding of Richmond-Steveston in the 2005 provincial election. He was re-elected on May 12, 2009.

Yap previously served as the Minister of State for Climate Action and as the chair of the Government Caucus. He was also a member of the Treasury Board, the Legislative Review Cabinet Committee, as well as the Select Standing Committees of Public Accounts Crown Corporations and Finance and Government Services. He has also served as a member of the Special Committee on Sustainable Aquaculture and was previously a member of the Finance and Government Services Committee.
