The weather is causing signifcant challenges all across BC. Roads are closed due to avalanches and mudslides. There is significant flooding in the Fraser Valley and in Chilliwack in particular. A state of emergency has been declared. We've been asked to pray that the rain would stop and the flood waters will recede. There are families that have been forced to evacuate their homes and some homes have sustained serious damage.
Lord, today we ask that you would intervene in our weather situation. You know that the recent snow and rain is creating havoc in our province and has begun to seriously affect the lives of many people. We pray especially today for the people in the Chilliwack area who are being affected by the flood. Lord, let your grace be upon them. We ask that you would cause the rains to stop in spite of the forecast and for the flood waters to recede. We also pray for Mayor Sharon Gaetz and the city administration and workers who are doing their best to address this situation. Grant mayor Gaetz wisdom as she provides leadership. Use her to strengthen and encourage those who have been evacuated. Help the many workers who are working long hours as well. Give them great success as they do their part to deal with this disaster. Show us your great power we pray. Amen
